Biography

Edit

The Tragically Hip is a Candian rock band formed in 1983. The current line-up is Gordon Downie, Paul Langlois, Rob Baker, Gord Sinclair and Johnny Fay.

The band signed with MCA in 1987 and released their debut EP The Tragically Hip later that year. Their main breakthrough came with their first full length release, 1989's Up to Here, and since then they have released nine albums. Their most recent release was World Container in 2006. However, their primary fame has always been in their homeland where they enjoy a certain amount of adulation; they have yet to make a huge impact on the European or American markets.

Most of the members of the band have carried out solo projects; Downie has released two solo albums Coke Machine Glow (2001) and Battle of the Nudes> (03); Baker works with Stripper's Union; Langlois and Sinclair undertook production duties for other artists.
