This band is immensely forced on some Canadian rock stations. They have been rotating The Trews songs sometimes over 10 times during they daily program. They even play their live records, introducing them like "the greatest Canadian live band". I think that was the most insulting statement not only for every real Canadian rock band, but also for entire nation. I found comments such as: "Prove that originality is not everything" (?????), or "They will rock you!"

After I heard "I am tired of waiting" for the first time, I was so sick of waiting for the song to over that I had to actually change station after half of the song. It is not so much that they are so boring, but it is sad that people give them credit for all the wrong things. They stated that vocalist has a "wide range", but I found that every average cover band that locally covers everything from Pearl Jam to Beatles should then be also be part of that "wide range" definition. Then you find out their guitars lines sound like they were composed for some local parent-friendly teenage band demo recording without any talent...recorded for...fun. Rhythm section is lacking even that character...I guess you would not miss anything if drums and bass were muted.

So, without any substance, you have very enthusiastic-but-no-talent guitar player, and pathetic "cover band" vocalist. Well, I would not mind calling them "The Greatest Band from a Small Town Fair", but "GREATEST CANADIAN LIVE BAND" is like calling "Nickelback" foundation of CANADIAN ROCK SOUND. It simply makes no sense, and people that give that attribute to The Trews are obviously not able to make a difference between great music and mediocre attempts. I can respect hard working bands for...hard work...but if they still sound boring - I can't call them THE GREATEST. There's less and less great rock lately, and more and more LABELS for every purpose.
