Great album, but get the best versionReleased in 2004, The Burning is the second album by Finnish progressive/power metal band Thunderstone. Excessively formulaicThis power metal band from Finland does some competent instrumental work, but the songs come across as formulaic and uninspired. The main problem here is that the songwriting is unmelodic, with few memorable ideas. A further problem is that the vocalist's range is rather limited. As a result, each track sounds very much like the previous one, and none of them really stand out. Despite the technical competence of the playing, this CD fails to sustain interest.
