Overview Edit

FanMail is the third studio album by American girl group trio TLC. As with previous album CrazySexyCool (1994), the group re-teamed with Babyface, Dallas Austin, and Jermaine Dupri on the album's production and the album features the computer voice female named Vic-E (vikki). There is a explicit version and a clean version replacing certain curse words, some sexual remarks, and some racial words. The explicit version comes with a Parental Advisory sticker and the clean version doesn't.

The group's first album in five years, Fanmail debuted on top of the U.S. Billboard 200 and Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums chart and at number one on the Billboard 200, selling approximately 318,000 copies in its first week of release. It eventually received a 6x platinum certification by the RIAA for more than six million copies shipped to stores. While the album entered the top twenty on the majority of the charts it appeared on oustide the United States, it also reached the top ten in Canada, New Zealand, and the United Kingdom.

The album was very successful at the Grammys, receiving eight nominations. "No Scrubs" won Best R&B Vocal Performance by a Duo or Group and Best R&B Song and Fanmail won Best R&B Album.

5 stars Awesome!
Wow! I was really impressed! I brought this cd because I liked "No Scrubs" and I LOVED "Unpretty." What I love most about this cd is the variety of songs. From beautiful, and slow ballads like "Dear Lie" and "I Miss you So much" to edgy and sharper tunes like "I'm Good at Being Bad" and "Shout," TLC really puts all emotion into it. As for the "explicit content," if you're not offended by somewhat graphic sexual terms and descriptions, then you can ignore it.

3 stars Good album but...
Points get deducted for not including the late Left-Eye's rap on "No Scrubs." The non-rap version just feels so empty.
