Brewing Up a Hot Cup of Wilco
Nov, 25 2010
Sammy Hagar has Cabo Wabo tequila, Kid Rock brews Badass brand beer, and Jimmy Buffett has merchandised himself into retirement on Margaritaville mix alone. Perhaps as an appeal to the morning crowd or the sober community, Wilco now has its own coffee bean blend available.
Wilco Selects ($21/lb.) is a band-endorsed blend of Organic Ethiopia Sidama Homecho Waeno beans and is available for pre-order for another week through Chicago-based coffee roasters, Intelligentsia.
“The body has a light and silky quality, like fresh whipped cream, that beautifully complements the ever-present note of citron, juniper berry and vanilla. As it cools, the cup blossoms into notes of confectioner's sugar, rosehips, and soft raisin resonating on a pristine finish with a touch of milk chocolate” reads the roaster’s website.
Wilco also offer a decaffeinated coffee, but they admonish, "In full disclosure, no decaf coffee was selected by the members of Wilco during the tasting field trip. But our friends at Intelligentsia tell us this is as good a decaf as it gets."
If you desire other ways to ingest Wilco, you could visit the Toronto-based Wilco sandwich shop (no connection to the band) or score a sixer of Wilco Tango Foxtrot beer.
