Overview Edit

Degüello is the sixth studio album by American blues-rock band ZZ Top, released in 1979 (see 1979 in music). "Degüello" means "beheading" or, idiomatically, "no quarter" (as in "no surrender to be given or accepted--a fight to the death") in Spanish and was the title of a Moorish-origin bugle call used by the Mexican Army forces at the Battle of the Alamo, Texas, in 1836.

4 stars Original Mix Is Intact Unlike Previous 6 CDS
For reasons unknown, after completely butchering the CD releases of their previous 6 albums by remixing and re-recording, ZZ Top saw fit to leave this one lone album and an early Greatest Hits collection alone in it's original form. It's not remastered but at least you can hear the album as it sounded when it was first released on vinyl. So it's a safe buy, but since Tres Hombres and Fandango are now finally available in original mix, remastered form, I would wait for this one to be re-released.

2 stars Is this vinyl just 1 defective out of a bunch?
I just got in Deguello on Vinyl and many of the tracks skip while theres not a sratch on it. My needle is fine and other recordsplay perfectly. Side A, 3 tracks skip, side B, 1 does. Although on the packaging it say "pressed with more care than ever", I'm wonderring if I recieved a defective copy from manufacturing. This is a great album and unfortunately I'm liking my copy.
