Blackfield is a collaboration between Porcupine Tree's Steven Wilson and Israeli rock singer Aviv Geffen.

It was Geffen who invited Porcupine Tree to play with him in Israel and Blackfield grew from that. Before long they were recording together. Although the original intention had been to record and release an EP in 2001, the project grew until, by 2003, they released a full length album Blackfield. The album received a great deal of positive praise and tours took place in Europe and the US.

By 2006 Geffen and Wilson were working towards a new album and in 2007 they released a follow up, Blackfield II.
