Cesária Évora (IPA pronounciation: [sɨ'zaɾiɐ 'ɛvuɾɐ]; born 27 August 1941) is a Cape Verdean popular singer. Nicknamed the "barefoot diva" for her preference for performing without shoes Évora is perhaps the best internationally-known practitioner of "morna."
