Biography

Edit

Clay Aiken first entered the public consciousness when he took part in the second season of American Idol (2003). Though he didn’t win he has since capitalized on that experience with four studio albums, many television appearances, two stints on Broadway starring as Sir Robin in Spamalot, charity work and a UNICEF ambassadorship. He has also written his memoirs, a New York times best-seller, Learning to Sing: Hearing the Music in Your Life (2004).

His musical career took off immediately after American Idol, and his first album was released within the year, whereupon it debuted at No.1 on the Billboard charts selling over 600,000 copies - the best first-week total for a debut artist in almost ten years. He then released a Christmas album, Merry Christmas With Love (2004), a covers album, A Thousand Different Ways (2006) and in (2008) On My Way Here all of which reached the Top 5 in the Billboard charts and consolidated his initial success. He is now signed with Universal/Decca and is working on a new album due to be released in early 2010.
