D12 are a rap/hip-hop collective created by the late rapper Proof and were originally comprised of Proof, Bizarre, Killa Hawk, Eye Kyu, Eminem (he later left to pursue his solo career) and Fuzz. Formed in the early 90s, D12 was an eminent member of the Detroit underground rap scene but before the group could make it big both Fuzz and Killa Hawk left for personal reasons - eventually replaced by rappers Bugz and Swift. After Eminem achieved solo success and formed his own label (under the Interscope umbrella), and signed D12 did the group see its own commercial success.
D12's first studio album 2001's Devil's Night debuted at No.1 on the Billboard music charts in the US and topped the charts in countries across the world, due in no small part to the presence of superstar rapper Eminem. Dedicated to rapper Bugz who was shot and killed just prior to the recording of Devil's Night.
D12's second release, D12 World (2004) again debuted at the top of the charts. In 2006, founding member and the guiding light of D12 Proof was shot and killed in a bar fight. Current members of D12 are: Swift (real name, Ondre Moore) a.k.a. "Swifty McVay", Kon Artis (real name Denaun Porter) a.k.a. "Mr. Porter", Kuniva (real name, Von Carlisle) a.k.a. "Rondell Beene", Eminem (real name, Marshall Mathers) a.k.a. "Slim Shady" and Bizarre (real name, Rufus Johnson) a.k.a. "Peter S. Bizarre".
