Jimmy Pursey (born 9 February 1955) is a singer and producer. He was the frontman of the English punk rock band Sham 69 from 1976 to 1980, and from 1987 to 2006. On 26 January 2007, BBC News announced that Sham 69 had split because of a bitter fallout between Pursey and guitarist Parsons. NME reported that a statement released by Parsons included the message: "Sham 69 have left Jimmy Pursey on the eve of their 30th anniversary." But, of course, this was only one side of the story. On 21 January 2008, Pursey announced that, to avoid confusion for fans, he would no longer be associated with the name Sham 69, and he now performs with his new band DAY 21. That band also includes Mat Sargent on bass, The Rev (Towers of London and The Prodigy) on guitar, and Snell (Towers of London).
