Luis Miguel is one Latin America’s most popular and successful romantic ballad singers. His career to date has earned him five Grammys, four Latin Grammys, multiple platinum disks and a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
The son of a singer and an actress, Miguel was a child star, recording his debut album aged 11. By the time he had signed with WEA in 1987, he had won international singing awards, and had parts in a two Mexican films. With the backing of WEA he released Un Hombre Busca Una Mujer in 1988, the single “La Incondicional” became popular throughout Latin America, and he built on its success with his 1990 follow-up. 20 Años built his profile outside Latin America, while the Spanish language album Romance took him to the next level. It has been his biggest-seller to date, with over 10 million copies sold. His subsequent releases, while not matching the sales of Romance, have been successful in their own right. Aries, Segundo Romance, Romances and Mexico En la Piel have all earned him Grammys, and he received three Latin Grammys for Amarte es un Placer.
