Soda Stereo is an Argentine new wave group which formed in 1982. The band consists of Charly Alberti (drums), Zeta Bosio (bass) and Gustavo Cerati (vocals/guitar).
They released their debut Soda Stereo in 1984 and followed it with Nada Personal in 1985. Signos (1986) was the album which spread their popularity beyond their native Argentina to the remainder of Latin America. Canción Animal (1990) was considered to be the band’s seminal album and their popularity was reflected in the size of their concert audience which, on one particular occasion in 1991, reached a reputed 250,000.
Unfortunately, the success of Canción Animal melted away with their next release Dynamo (1992), by far their most experimental, and poorly promoted as a result of the death of Bosio’s son later that year.
Platinum selling Sueño Stereo (1995) was their last studio album although they did release an unplugged album Comfort y Música Para Volar a year later. By 1997 the group had disbanded as a result of disagreements and artistic differences.
The patience of the fans paid off when the band decided, ten years later, to reform and in 2007 they began a sell-out reunion tour. Although the tour has coincided with the release of a best of album Me Verás Volver (Hits & + no new studio album has been released to date.
