Michael Kamen was the US born composer/conductor and arranger, best known through his scores for films, such as X-Men, Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves and the Lethal Weapon series.
He spent his formative years studying at the New York High School of Music and Art and then Julliards, during which time he formed the classical/rock fusion band, The New York Rock and Roll Ensemble - who had the distinction of being the first band to appear in Leonard Bernstein's renowned Young Peoples Concerts series.
Kamen got his introduction to film when he was invited to write the score for the 1976 film The Next Man, a thriller starring Sean Connery. This was to be the first of many film scores that he wrote and arranged. His list of credits include: Brazil, The Adventures of Baron Munchhausen, Licence to Kill and Highlander. He has also wrote the score for the TV series Band of Brothers. His pop pedigree is no less prestigious, arranging orchestral pieces for a long and diverse list of artists, including Roger Waters, Dave Gilmour, Eric Clapton, David Bowie and Metallica.
As well as commercial success, his career garnered him a number of awards, including three Grammys and two Golden Globes.
