Classic Rock is a radio format more than a genre, because it doesn't describe one particular style of music; instead it refers to the Rock canon, the albums and bands which have established themselves as massively popular 'classics' over many years. Mostly it is focused on the Rock of the late 60s and 70s - The Rolling Stones, Neil Young, Led Zeppelin, The Who, David Bowie and so on - but hugely popular rock acts from later eras will also be played on Classic Rock radio stations.
