Overview

Highway to Hell is the sixth studio album by Australian hard rock band AC/DC, released in July 1979. It is also AC/DC's fifth international studio album. It was the last album featuring Bon Scott, who died early the following year from over-consumption of alcohol.

It was originally released by Albert Productions, who licensed the album to Atlantic Records for release outside of Australia, and was then re-released by Epic Records in 2003 as part of the AC/DC Remasters series. On May 25th 2006, Highway to Hell was certified 7x platinum by the RIAA. In 2003, the album was ranked number 199 on Rolling Stone magazine's list of the 500 greatest albums of all time.

5 stars Two Points of view - Two Ratings
Hello fellow AC/DC fans, I have 2 thoughts on this release and it goes for the rest of the catalog reissues as well. If you have never bought this release or bought a copy before 1994 then I would definitely buy this. The package and the sound are great.

However, if you, like myself bought the first "original tapes remastered" version released in 1994 , I would pass. It sounds exactly the same as the new "original two track remasters". If you want to upgrade for the pkg(new cd booklet) then go f…

1 stars Awesome Album Ruined by Loudness War
"The Sound on this cd is SO much louder than the original" "This has got to be the best this album has ever sounded" Yeah, right. Highway to hell is one of the latest victims of the loudness war, and this cd is compressed to death. Clipping is evident and the sound is consistently grating. Too bad increases in technology mean worse sounding cds. Pick up the orginal Atlantic cd - its much more dynamic - and consequently better sounding.
