Refreshing and EntertainingAmish wit? You bet! This soundtrack contains a variety of songs in typical late-1950's Broaday musical style. Both music and lyrics entertain and offer a bit of pseudo-Amish wisdom. You will find yourself singing these songs over and over.
A moderate success, get it if you're a Barbara Cook fanBarbara Cook sings some of the best stuff in this 1950s musical about, believe it or not, the PA Amish. I believe this musical is performed quite often at theaters in PA. Babs is young, and this is before hitting stardom with "The Music Man" & "She Loves Me." In this cd, she sings the feisty "I'll Show Him" and duets the lovely "Follow Your Heart." Another good sing is the haunting male chorus of "Plain We Are," the finale of Act 1. Still, this is a unique musical & I'm not sorry I got it. It's been out of print for years before this cd
