Overview

Recorded prior to Lambert's appearance on American Idol, Take One pre-dates his official 'debut' release For Your Entertainment.

The release was officially disowned by Lambert in interviews saying 'I was surprised to find out that songs I recorded back in 2005 were being released. Since then I discovered the entire track listing, revealed online today. I was shocked to learn that songwriting demos of songs that I co-wrote and recorded over the past few years may be released in an album. Like a rough draft that a writer does before finishing a book, I did not intend my work on these demos to be heard by the public. I was unaware that anyone intended to release these recordings until I heard about it in the press, and I’m very disappointed by this entire situation.'

Consequently the release remains contentious and loyal fans continue their protest against this indie release.

5 stars It's Still Adam - and Still wonderful in it's own right!
For those like me who like almost anything Adam sings, this is a fine album of songs that show a different side of Adam than "For your Entertainment." It's kind of like catching a star before they were a star - the greatness is already apparent. How many times do we end up buying the demos and "B" sides of songs fomr a great artist when a collection is released last in their career - this just makes is so you don't have to wait until then.

For those who warn that this is not Adam's "real" album…

1 stars SAD...
I am ashamed to say that even though Adam was not going to profit from this CD, I had to have it merely because it is ADAM. And let me say this before I get into any trouble, Adam's voice is flawless in anything he sings. But I am so disappointed in this and in myself for ordering it and benefiting this company. I should have known better as Adam says himself he does not endorse this product. The songs are so slow and Adam seems to be held back, not the Adam we know and love. These songs will be…

Trivia Edit

  • 'TAKE ONE' was recorded with Madonna's band. Mr Monte Pittman, Steve Sidelynk and Marcus Brown performed with Madonna over a seven year period. Through Producer Malcolm Welsford the band entered the studio to work with a then un-known Lambert. Both Welsford and Pittman continued working with Adam making him into the star that he is now.
