Overview Edit

We Are Pilots is the major label debut album by Los Angeles-based band Shiny Toy Guns. It was released on October 17, 2006 by Universal Motown and is the third release by the band following two independently released albums also titled We Are Pilots (see We Are Pilots (v1) and We Are Pilots (v2)). The liner notes reflect this with "version 3.0".

It contains the single, "Le Disko," which received moderate radio play on alternative stations. Their second single, "You Are the One" was released for Modern Rock airplay. Their third single was "Rainy Monday".

"Chemistry Of A Car Crash" originated from the track of the same title by one of vocalist/guitarist Chad Petree's earlier side projects 'Dangerous Insects.'

The album was nominated for the Grammy Award for Best Electronic/Dance Album at the 50th Grammy Awards.

The album peaked at #90 on the Billboard 200 and #1 on the Top Heatseekers chart.

The clarity and depth of all the songs on the album is superb. The 'final' versions of all the songs (e…

The main thing to keep in mind about We Are Pilots is that it goes for the biggest emotions, and then aims its songs at the biggest audience. This is a very pop-oriented album, with very little subtlety to it.

The first song that really got my attention is "Le Disko"--how could you miss it? A very hot and seductive track, with sleazy beats and the-girls-are-in-control lyrics. "When They Came for Us" pines …
